Top

A top is a toy designed to be spun rapidly on the ground, the motion of which causes it to remain precisely balanced on its tip because of inertia. Such toys have existed since antiquity. Traditionally tops were constructed of wood, sometimes with an iron tip, and would be set in motion by aid of a string or rope coiled around its axis which, when pulled quickly, caused a rapid unwinding that would set the top in motion. Today they are often built of plastic, and modern materials and manufacturing processes allow tops to be constructed with such precise balance that they can be set in motion by a simple twist of the fingers and twirl of the wrist without need for string or rope.

Characteristics

The motion of a top is produced in the most simple forms by twirling the stem using the fingers. More sophisticated tops are spun by holding the axis firmly while pulling a string or twisting a stick or pushing an auger. In the kinds with an auger, an internal weight rotates, producing an overall circular motion. Some tops can be thrown, while firmly grasping a string that had been tightly wound around the stem, and the centrifugal force generated by the unwinding motion of the string will set them spinning upon touching ground.

Top (clothing)

A top is clothing that covers at least the chest, but which usually covers most of the upper human body between the neck and the waistline. The bottom of tops can be as short as mid-torso, or as long as mid-thigh. Men's tops are generally paired with pants, and women's with pants or skirts. Common types of tops are t-shirts, blouses and shirts.

Design

The neckline is the highest line of the top, and may be as high as a head-covering hood, or as low as the waistline or bottom hem of the top. A top may be worn loose or tight around the bust or waist, and may have sleeves or shoulder straps, spaghetti straps (noodle straps), or may be strapless. The back may be covered or bare. Tops may have straps around the waist or neck, or over the shoulders.

Category of topological spaces

In mathematics, the category of topological spaces, often denoted Top, is the category whose objects are topological spaces and whose morphisms are continuous maps or some other variant; for example, objects are often assumed to be compactly generated. This is a category because the composition of two continuous maps is again continuous. The study of Top and of properties of topological spaces using the techniques of category theory is known as categorical topology.

N.B. Some authors use the name Top for the category with topological manifolds as objects and continuous maps as morphisms.

As a concrete category

Like many categories, the category Top is a concrete category (also known as a construct), meaning its objects are sets with additional structure (i.e. topologies) and its morphisms are functions preserving this structure. There is a natural forgetful functor

to the category of sets which assigns to each topological space the underlying set and to each continuous map the underlying function.

Cinema (Elaine Paige album)

Cinema is the fourth solo album by Elaine Paige. The album was released in 1984 on Warner Music, peaking at #12 in the UK album charts. This album has been re-issued on CD. It was the second of Paige's recordings to be produced by Tony Visconti. To follow the theme of Stages, Paige chose tracks that had been previously recorded for soundtracks. Like Stages, the recording was primarily conducted at Visconti's Good Earth Studios, other than for "Sometimes" (Theme from Champions) which had been previously recorded at CTS Studios, London featuring the New World Philharmonia.

Cinema is the fifth studio album of eclectic Australian band, The Cat Empire. It was released in Australia on 25 June 2010 by EMI and débuted at No. 3 on the ARIA Albums Chart. The work was co-produced by Steve Schram with the group.

Background

The Cat Empire's fifth studio album, Cinema, was issued on 25 June 2010 by EMI in Australia. It was followed by releases in Canada, United States, and then Europe. It was co-produced by Steve Schram and the group. According to the band's lead vocalist and percussionist, [Felix Riebl], its title was due to the content, which "is very cinematic, simply put ... Another way to describe it is that it is like a soundtrack to a movie that we might make one day. When [Schram] and I were sitting around and trying to come up with a title we thought that the name we eventually chose would suit the atmosphere".

Cinema débuted at number three on the ARIA Albums Chart. The track, "Beyond All", was featured on national radio station, Triple J's New Music with Richard Kingsmill in April. The lead single, "Feeling's Gone", had been released in May ahead of the album. A promotional copy of Cinema had been leaked to eBay about three weeks before its due date and sold for $200; EMI provided a statement regarding the leak. To promote the album the group undertook a tour on North America in July followed by a national tour in August and September.

Cinema (Benny Benassi song)

"Cinema" is a song by Italian DJ and electro house music producer Benny Benassi and British recording artist and songwriter Gary Go. The song was written by Gary Go with music produced by Benny and Alle Benassi. It was released on 8 March 2011 by Ultra Records and All Around the World, on Benny Benassi's fourth studio album Electroman. Fans first picked up on the song after it was included in the hit video game, Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit. The single EP featured several remixes by Skrillex, Laidback Luke, Alex Gaudino & Jason Rooney, and Congo Rock. The Skrillex remix went on to become a hit in its own right, staying in iTunes US Dance Top 10 for over six months after its release, and winning a 2012 Grammy Award for Best Remixed Recording. An instrumental version was most recently featured in the debut trailer for the video game, Sonic Lost World. The song has, as of November 2013, been viewed/played over 200 million times on YouTube.

Music video

A music video to accompany the release of "Cinema" was first released onto YouTube on 24 March 2011 at a total length of three minutes and thirty-nine seconds. It features Benassi, his cousin Alle and Gary Go. The video was later featured in the Beavis and Butt-head episode "Copy Machine".
